Only 15 percent of the land on Honduras is well suited for agriculture. Most of it is covered by mountains, giving rise to the country's nickname ‘the Tibet of Central America’. Nevertheless, the Honduran economy has always been highly dependent on agriculture – so reducing crop losses to pests and diseases is essential.
Since beginning work in the country in 2012, farmers visiting the 15 plant clinics established with the support of Plantwise tell us they feel they now finally “have a place to go with crop problems”.
